Prof. Zhijun Zhang

Prof. Zhijun Zhang

South China University of Technology, China

Prof. Zhang Zhijun’s main research interests include neural networks, robotics, human–robot and human–computer interaction, as well as numerical optimization. He has been serving as a Full Professor at the School of Automation Science and Engineering, South China University of Technology since 2019, after working as an Associate Professor from 2015 to 2019. From 2013 to 2015, he was a Research Fellow at the Institute of Media Innovation, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He obtained his Ph.D. from Sun Yat-sen University in 2012.

Prof. Zhang has published more than 80 scientific papers as author or co-author, including 52 SCI-indexed journal papers and 20 regular papers in IEEE Transactions journals as first or corresponding author. He has also contributed two English book chapters, with 39 papers ranked in the JCR Q1 category. His work has appeared in leading international journals and conferences, including IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, IEEE Transactions on Mechatronics, and IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics.

In addition, he holds 14 authorized invention patents and 6 utility model patents, with more than 80 invention patents filed in China. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the Best Paper Award at IEEE ICAL 2011, the Excellent Postgraduate Scholarship at Sun Yat-sen University, the Excellent Poster Award at the 2nd Guangdong Postgraduate Student Forum, the First Prize of the Hong Kong Yun Hao Company Scholarship, the First Prize in the “Challenge Cup” of Guangdong Province, and four First Prize Scholarships for Outstanding Students.
